There's a newspaper article about this today:

Quote:
At The People in Galesburg’s first town hall meeting, held July 21 in the library, youth issues incited prolonged discussion. Pardick decided she wanted to continue that discussion and help come up with some ways for kids to spend their time, expand their education and job opportunities, as well as prepare themselves for their own futures.

“I became a group facilitator mainly because, after seeing how many people are interested in youth issues in the city, I felt that it was necessary for a group to form to further discuss issues that were brought up at the Town Hall Meeting, and to further network,” Pardick wrote in an e-mail Wednesday morning. “It was obvious to me at the meeting that there were plenty of people who were either already involved, or looking to get involved with youth initiatives in Galesburg, but there was a lack of networking or communication between the different groups. By having an ‘Action Group’ hopefully people will be able to find necessary resources to get ideas off the ground.”
