I. Food Waste and Feeding the Hungry Locally

Ideas discussed:

Picking people up to bring them to the Farmers' Market; Markets in varied parts of town, or Standish Park.

Putting a folder at the front desk of the library, so that those without computer access or time to navigate this forum can also participate.

That nutrition is a very personal issue.

Community helplessness -- wanting to help but not knowing how to do so.

Food Not Bombs as a model with quick camp setups for a couple of hours to feed people in a given area, and then moving on to another.

II. Slumlords/ Housing Code Enforcement

Ideas discussed:

Where to find codes, updates to codes (see: Galesburg Codes).

Inspections are made by the Neighborhood Inspection Division of City. (See: Inspection Division.)

Fire Department, Police Department -- especially for illegal parking and traffic issues.

Codes are complaint-driven.

Need for people enforcing codes even without complaints.

Need for landlord inspections.

Need for programs to help landlords and tenants to make necessary repairs.
